From the estate vineyard in the Yallingup Hills, matured in new and used oak, with a move to puncheons (500l). A full-bodied shiraz that reflects the very low yields of the vintage, but has kept its shape and balance in fine fettle. Its purple and black fruits are the drivers, oak and tannins part of the picture, but no more.
Deep red colour with a good purple tint, the bouquet likewise fresh and bright and attractive. There's a lick of spice and a touch of oak, well-balanced, and the wine is intense and savoury, firm and drying on the tongue, but also soft and appealing. Some Chinese five-spice notes. It has some elegance. A very smart shiraz.
